“ Make sure you have a reservation. First of all the food was absolutely amazing! Pricing was on par with quality and quantity of food in my opinion, you get what you pay for. Our waitress Marissa was great, she was also tending to the bar so she was running but always made sure we had what we needed. The drinks were unique and very tasty, however a little small (I also think that’s because they ran out of glasses for my second drink and had to improvise so my second drink was much smaller then my first) but they were using quality ingredients so no complaints. The atmosphere was great, very speak easy vibes. My only “negative” which is nothing on the restaurant is there were some small children in there screaming and crying. This is a small intimate setting definitely upscale type of place and it was after 8 pm. I definitely would not label this place kid friendly; this is definitely and adult vibe type of place (for example no kid menu, tight quarters and speak easy vibes) with all the other restaurants in Middletown if you want to take your small children out please for the sake of other patrons trying to enjoy an upscale evening choose another restaurant. The grits were absolutely delicious seafood was cooked to perfection can not wait to come back please keep up the good work. ”

“ One of the best spots in Delaware to get homestyle southern style food with a Creole twist! I was very impressed. Love tI always have to take an order to soul bowl, smothered salmon and the lamb chops are a must try. It’s something about the combination of flavors in each dish. And the Brussels... never in my life could I ever think they could taste this amazing. I plan to come back to until I’ve tried everything on the menu at least once. ”

“ The food here was delicious and authentic to Southern style food. We shared debris fries as a starter, and my entree was shrimp and grits. I had a difficult time deciding what to get as all the dishes looked good. Everything we ordered was excellent! The atmosphere was awesome and was old wood and brick style from something you'd expect in the 1800s. The service was excellent as well. The waitress was attentive, friendly, and helpful regarding knowledge of the dishes and drinks. I plan on returning again to try more of their dishes! ”

“ Whoever made this place took a lot of time planning an experience for diners. From the decor, to the dishes, the food and the very responsive wait staff - everything was well done. My friends loved the wings, even with the sauce on the side, shrimp and grits and the catfish. Salmon was good too, next time we'll try with sauce on side as well. Since I'm a vegetarian and didn't want a salad I just had the sweet potatoes which were delicious! And of course we had to try the beignets with a glaze which were melt in your mouth delicious. I would love to see chefs take on a veggie burger so non meat eating diners could experience more of this wonderful new eatery. Entrance is around back, the front does not scream look at me and eat here . ”

“ This place is the real deal. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. The vibes are so chill. The drink menu is as well thought out and tasty as the food menus. I have been here a few times and it's one of my most recommended eateries in an hour radius. This particular visit we had the 1861 Manhattan, smooth with the right amount of vermouth and bitters. We also ordered the WuTang, creamy and sweet, perfect for brunch and the Killer Bees Attack, you can taste the ginger honey and the attention to detail in the drink. For our meal we had Lucille's Chicken and Waffles and the Peach Cobbler Waffles. The waffles taste fresh made and the chicken was seasoned perfectly. The service here is impeccable. ”

“ This was my 2nd time at this establishment and it was amazing once again. First of all, the music was a vibe. Classic R&B set the tone. Drinks were money (36 chambers), the food was amazing and the service was top notch. I hope this place continues to thrive because it’s a gem. ”

“ I absolutely love this restaurant. The service, food, and vibe are amazing. I will say the food was better when dining on a Saturday as opposed to a weekday, but the food was still really good. Murphy has been my server each time and she's amazing. Very kind, patient, and gives great recommendations. She's one of the best servers I've ever encountered, and we travel everywhere for food lol! We brought my son for his 4th grade promotion and she made him feel so special, he couldn't stop talking about his experience. We will be back, and hopefully Murphy will be our server again! Back to the food: we had the Brussels sprouts, garlic sticky wings, all the cornbread options except sweet potato, oysters, soul bowl, French toast and chicken, the short rib bowl (unsure of the official name), the bowl with the grits and crab, and all of the sides. I wasn't a fan of the grits, they were undercooked. Our favorites were the Brussels sprouts, the plain and blueberry cornbread, wings, the soul bowl and rib bowl. And the drinks were also phenomenal! They were strong and tasty!! ”

“ I don't even know how to explain how great of a dining experience this was. The food was EXCELLENT. The atmosphere was AMAZING. Everything was just perfect. The servers were very pleasant and the food was delivered timely and warm. We sat around for quite some time chatting amongst friends and no one rushed us out. Even the owner stopped over to personally greet us. My only complaint is that everything on the menu looked so delicious that it was extremely difficult to decide so I just made the choice to come back frequently to allow myself the opportunity to sample everything (and this was just the brunch menu. HEAVEN HELP ME if I ever decide to go for dinner) ”
